Nissan has released these first pictures of its new sports coupe, the 370Z, which makes its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show on the 19th of November this year. Probably Nissan couldn’t hold it any longer as people were getting impatient. The Nissan Z enjoys a huge fan following in India as well.
The 2009 Nissan 370Z is the first full redesign of the iconic Nissan 350Z since its reintroduction in 2003. The new model builds on the strengths of its predecessor, with a brilliant balance of power, performance, handling and style. The engine was from Renault, the car was designed in America by an Indian! Yes this is the Z’s Indian connection!
Although the the 370Z will be built on the Nissan’s FM platform (same as the 350Z) the wheelbase may be shortened by as much as five inches for better handling. Other improvements include wider rear fenders and an improved interior. It will be powered by the 3.7-liter version of the Nissan VQ engine series just like the G37 coupe and sedan. The engine delivers 330 hp and 270 pound-feet of torque. Expect breathtaking performance figures as Nissan aims to beat the cars from Stuttgart, Porsche.
Nissan will reveal first official images of the car on October 29, followed by technical information on November 11. Nissan had a plan of selling the 350Z in India for Rs 65 lakhs (taxes included). Expect the 370Z to tip the scales at around 50 lakhs when it gets here. At this price, we guess Porsche’s have the edge, but lets wait for a full review.
